Fishing Season & Regulation
The fishing season for Bluefin Tuna is from June to October. Usually you will find schools of Bluefin Tuna raning in sizes from 27 to 73 inches. Bluefin that are over 73 inches can weight as much as 1100lbs! All fish that are larger than 73 inches will be the property of the boat and any fish under 73 inches will have to meet current federal government regulations.

Fishing Methods
The Bluefin Tuna is largely caught using Trolling Squid Bars. Various Lures and Daisy Chains may also be used to catch this fish. Chumming, Chunk Bait and Live Bait are often used to lure these fish to the hook.
Tuna Jigging and Popping methods are also very popular in Boston. These are all Big Game rods and reels with line weights of 100 pounds and having customized stand up rods in them. Most of the time baits and lures are used to catch the Bluefin Tuna fish.
Locations Fished
The Bluefin Tuna is largely found in Massachusetts Bay, Cape and Cod Bay, Tillies Bank, Stellwagen Bank, Jefferies Ledge, Middle Bank in Boston as well as Wildcat etc. These areas represent the largest concentrations of the Bluefin Tuna fish and so fishing in these regions will mean large catches for you.
